Galliford Try’s Building Southern business celebrated the official opening ceremony for the new Edenbridge Memorial Health Centre (EMHC) development in Four Elms Road, Kent.

The Building Southern team were joined by dignitaries including Paul Bentley, Designate Chief Executive of the new Kent and Medway NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) and local MP Tom Tugendhat, as well as representatives from key stakeholders Community Health NHS Foundation Trust, Edenbridge Medical Practice, gbpartnerships, Sevenoaks District Council and Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group.

The new £12.2m facility, designed by LSI Architects and delivered in conjunction with gbpartnerships, is a two-storey building, with public services occupying the ground floor, while staff amenities are located on the first floor. Services at the EMHC encompass a GP practice, outpatient services, a minor injury unit, X-ray services, phlebotomy, therapies, and social prescribing.

It also includes a memorial garden area and community spaces, with an aim to prioritise healthcare accessibility, wellbeing spaces, and integrate services within the community.

The EMHC is in line for a National Site Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme in late May, and has also been shortlisted for this year’s Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Awards for London and South East, in the ‘Commercial Benefit’ category.

Laura Hodgetts, Health Director for Galliford Try who attended the event, commented: “We’re delighted to celebrate the opening of the Edenbridge Memorial Health Centre with our stakeholders and clients. This new Health Centre will serve as a pivotal hub for the community in the heart of the Kent, and is a fantastic example of what can be achieved in a joined-up primary care setting to deliver comprehensive health services.”
